To create a dashboard that effectively helps users understand the data, we usually don’t need exotic chart types—just a few variations of bar or column charts, heatmaps, and line charts. We also don’t need all the colors of the rainbow. Start with a black, white, and gray color scheme, then add as few additional colors as possible to highlight important data points or variations. A simple white background is the best option for a business intelligence dashboard.
This dashboard was created using only core Power BI visuals: 100% Stacked bar chart, Card (new), Stacked bar chart, Matrix, Stacked column chart, Line chart. A simple background (the static elements of the dashboard header), was created using Figma. A sparkline in the Card (new) visual was created as an SVG image generated by a DAX measure.
